Marriages in Cuba to Resume June 18 - Minister of Justice

According to a televised announcement by the Cuban Minister of Justice, Mr. Oscar Manuel Silvera Martínez, Marriages and several other legal procedures will resume June 18, 2020 during the first phase of COVID-19 recovery in Cuba.

Marriages and other legal procedures administered via the Department of Justice have been suspended in Cuba since March 26, 2020.

According to the US Embassy in Havana, the closure of airports to all non-Cuban citizens has been extended until August 1, 2020 despite prior reports and even sales of tickets by airlines with June and July departures. Hopefully these restrictions will be lifted so that non-Cuban citizens will be allowed in the country to marry their Cuban partners.

Besides formalization of marriages, Cuban Notaries will also conduct authentication of signatures, wills, and "book clearance" in the first stage of COVID-19 recovery.

The Department of Justice has emphasized that social distancing and other health and safety measures will be implemented at Notary offices to ensure the safety of the public.
